This program concentrates on communication skills

This program concentrates on the communication skills of students who have a diagnosis within the Autistic Spectrum Disorders. In order to develop independent skills, a wide variety of techniques are used:

  • Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
  • Structured teaching
  • Sensory integration
  • Task analysis
  • Discrete trial
  • And many facets of the TEACCH approach.  
  • The domains addressed in this program include: Domestic and Personal Maintenance, Expressive and Receptive Language, Fine and Gross Motor, Academics, Motor Imitation, Attending, and Social / Behavioral / Affective Skills. A strong link between school and family is developed in order to enhance the skills, which will lead to the student becoming an independent adult.
