Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN)
As a parent, you are an expert when it comes to understanding your child. However, you may not be an expert in understanding special education. The Parent Guides and other publication resources listed on this website provide a wealth of useful information on special education and other issues.

Bureau of Special Education’s ConsultLine, A Parent Helpline
ConsultLine personnel are available to parents and advocates of children with disabilities or children thought to be disabled. Personnel can explain federal and state laws relating to special education; describe the options that are available to parents inform parents of procedural safeguards; identify other agencies and support services; and describe available remedies and how the parents can proceed.

Parent Rights
This brochure provides a summary of the rights that are provided to parents that have children who receive special education services or children that may qualify to receive those services.
Community Resources and Organizations
The following are links to community organizations for parents with children with disabilities. These organizations offer meetings, information, and workshops specific to parent and student needs.
ARC of the Lehigh and Northampton Counties
The mission of The Arc of Lehigh and Northampton Counties is to advocate, educate, and provide services and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

ARC of Monroe County
The Arc of Monroe County has 40 locations in Monroe County that assist individuals with intellectual and/or other developmental disabilities that include Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorders among others.

Autism Society of the Lehigh Valley
The Autism Society, Lehigh Valley Chapter is a non-profit organization supporting families and professionals involved with autism. We offer a network in which parents, teachers, therapists, and other concerned professionals can support each other by exchanging ideas and information in a friendly atmosphere.

Easter Seals Eastern Pennsylvania
Easter Seals Eastern Pennsylvania (ESEP) provides quality services to children and adults with disabilities, and support to their families.

The Miracle League of Northampton County
The mission of the Miracle League of Northampton County is to provide an opportunity for children and adults with disabilities to play baseball at a facility that meets the unique needs of the players and their families. Northampton County Developmental Programs
Coordinates service to county residents of all ages with mental retardation. Developmental Programs services include Residential Programming (Community Homes, Family Living and Supported Living), Adult Developmental Training, Vocational Programming, Community Employment Services, Family Support Services, a Family Driven-Family Support Program, and In-Home Waiver Program.

Northampton County Early Intervention
Early Intervention is a program to help families develop and maximize their child’s potential.

Northampton County Mental Health
The Northampton County Mental Health department will develop, improve, and provide a full range of high quality, culturally competent, caring, and recovery-based community services that are flexible; consumer and family driven; and supportive of consumer responsibility, independence, empowerment, choice, satisfaction, and hope for the future.

Northampton County Special Olympics
Northampton County Special Olympics is a school based programs for school aged athletes administered by Colonial IU 20. Most of the events are run during the school day however, an after school program is now being offered.

VIA
Via of the Lehigh Valley is a non-profit human service agency that provides services for children and adults with disabilities like autism, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome.

Disabilities Rights Network
The mission of the Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania is to advance, protect, and advocate for the human, civil, and legal rights of Pennsylvanians with disabilities.

Hispanics United for Exceptional Children (HUNE, INC.)
HUNE is a not for profit organization that provide free bilingual English and Spanish training, technical assistance and individual assistance to parents of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities.

Keystone Human Services
Keystone provides comprehensive community-based services for children, young people, adults and families in the areas of intellectual disabilities (mental retardation), autism, mental health, early intervention and children and family services.

Kids Together
A non-profit designed for parents, professionals, advocates, and self-advocates to promote inclusive communities where all people belong.
