DESCRIPTION: 

During this three-credit online course, participants will come to understand what media literacy is, its importance in the classroom, how to integrate media literacy skills and design lessons and activities that will develop students’ media literacy skills.  

The goal of this course is to impact student learning through the integration of media literacy in the classroom.  The integration of media literacy skills will provide opportunities for students to become media literate.  Students will be able to access, analyze, evaluate and produce media.  Developing students’ media literacy skills will lead to increased motivation and engagement in the learning process. By the completion of the course, participants will be able to define media literacy skills, integrate media literacy into the classroom and across the curriculum and design activities and lessons that develop media literacy skills.  This course will benefit students by helping them to become media literate.
