What is AI?
By now, you have likely heard about or used artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT and other technology with AI capabilities. As AI technology advances, it is being integrated into search engines, writing tools, graphic design software, and more. AI tools and resources continue to expand and offer new and exciting opportunities, and it is important to learn how to integrate these tools in a meaningful way to support your work and our learners.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Defined
AI Defined
Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems and algorithms designed to mimic human cognitive functions, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making. AI encompasses a broad spectrum of techniques and methodologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and robotics. These techniques aim to create intelligent systems capable of performing tasks autonomously or with minimal human intervention.

We are exploring and learning more about AI tools and slowing integrating some of these resources thoughtfully into our educational practices. Our technology department has provided access to some AI resources for your use.
Some AI Resources that are supported and available for CIU 20 Staff:
Ethics of AI in Education
**Privacy and data protection are vital considerations when using, engaging, and sharing data with AI.
**Reminder: Protect Sensitive Information
Do not enter any personal information, student data, or confidential records into AI tools.
This includes names, addresses, grades, or any identifying details.
**Results of AI prompts should be:
Analyzed and reviewed prior to your use to determine if it represents diverse thinking and ideas. AI may have an element of bias based on the language models on which it was trained. As a result, it may skew toward certain cultures or ideologies. Staff should take time to review AI feedback closely, and develop the skills to interpret the results of AI to guard against bias and validate accuracy.
Conclusion
In support of our guidance of AI integration, we believe in harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence alongside human intelligence to support our staff with effective and innovate ways to support our learning community and our students for an evolving and unpredictable future.
