Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 recently welcomed 85 future educators from Bethlehem, East Stroudsburg, Pocono Mountain, and Stroudsburg School Districts to the CIU 20 Central Office for an immersive look into career opportunities within Special Education.
During the visit, students participated in small-group sessions with CIU 20 professionals, learning about their roles and the educational pathways and certifications required for careers such as Assistive Technology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Teachers of the Visually Impaired.
This event was made possible through the Developing Future Special Educators Grant, awarded to Colonial IU 20 by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) in partnership with Pocono Mountain School District and East Stroudsburg University. The grant supports PDE’s Attract, Prepare, and Retain (APR) initiative.
