Changing the Conversation Around Student Mental Health

CIU 20’s Jim McDonald, Director of RESOLVE Behavioral Health Services, is featured on a recent episode of KingSpry’s Legal Lunch Room, an education law podcast featuring conversations with school leaders.

The episode focuses on student mental health and how schools can effectively support students who may be struggling. Mr. McDonald joins Nikolas Tsamoutalidis, Supervisor of Student Supports and Health Services at Bethlehem Area School District, and Becky Young, Chair of KingSpry’s Special Education Law Practice Group, for the conversation.

“No longer are we asking, ‘What’s wrong with that kid?’ We’re asking, ‘What happened to that student, and how can we better support them?’” — Jim McDonald

The discussion highlights available supports, the importance of creating a culture of care and the role schools can play in supporting students’ mental health and well-being.

Legal Lunch Room is hosted by attorney Jonathan Huerta of KingSpry and is available wherever you listen to podcasts.
