Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 offers dynamic internship opportunities for students at various levels of their education in a variety of human services disciplines (Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Mental Health, etc.).

Junior or Senior status undergraduate student from an approved Human Services Discipline ( Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, etc.)
 
Description
Students will be exposed to: Group therapy, Individual therapy and Goal Treatment Plan writing.  All students will learn our social and emotional curriculum throughout the internship process.  All students will learn how to provide direct treatment and educational strategies in a supportive role to meet individualized treatment of students. Location
Varied. The internship can be completed through in CIU 20 Resolve Behavioral Health programs like Therapeutic Emotional Support, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Behavioral Health Services, or can be specific to the Colonial Academy (alternative ed high school)

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and enrollment with good standing in a Master’s accredited program for Clinical Counseling or Social Work. Students with open-mindedness, a willingness to learn, appreciation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) are encouraged to apply.
 
Description
Resolve Behavioral Health is dedicated to training professional mental health counselors and social workers. We  view training as an essential component of the department.  Resolve has a multidisciplinary training group for counseling, psychology, and social work students. Interns have an excellent opportunity to learn about the practice of therapy, social emotional learning and education as well as the importance of the clinician's understanding of solution focused approach.  
 
This internship placement can be designed with the intern’s professional goals in mind. Placements can be rotational, moving from a school-based Partial Hospitalization program, to a Therapeutic Emotional Support Classroom, to an Outpatient clinic, to an Alternative Education setting. Interns will be expected to adhere to CASSP Principles in developing their practice. Empirically-based treatment approaches will be highlighted. Cognitive-behavioral approaches, family systems approaches, and trauma-informed approaches will be discussed and accompanying skills developed. Professional ethics will be emphasized.
